Best Buddies Sports Saturday = Fun for All!

On Saturday, October 12, MBA boys and their Buddies took to the field.  This was the first of what will be monthly Sports Saturdays.  Join us in November for what the Best Buddies folks have called a "perfect day!"

What a perfect day for our very first Sports Saturday! Hosted by the Best Buddies chapter at Montgomery Bell Academy, it was an amazing morning of fun and football. We admit, witnessing the friendships being formed both on and off the field got us a little misty-eyed.

Soup Kitchen Tradition Continues

On Saturday, October 5, 20 MBA students, Mr. Paolicchi, Mrs. Ellery, Mr. Chenery, and Dr. Carro went to the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen to provide a meal for 146 fellow Nashvillians. Led by seniors Chris “Tears of Camaraderie” Mowery, Tarun “Blinded by the Spice” Mallipeddi, and Brandon “Iron Eyes” Carpenter, the Big Red served up a meal of savory chicken enchiladas with Moes-caliber queso and spicy tomatillo salsa, scrumptious Spanish rice, succulent Mexican black beans, zesty salad, and for dessert, syrupy sopapillas. A big thanks to all who came out, and especially to Freshman deep-sink cleaner phenoms Patrick Andreen, Rush Gorney, and Duncan McGinn. The second Loaves and Fishes of the year continued MBA’s strong tradition of competent culinary capability in the memory of contributions of Mr. Tate. He served meals for 10 years and is most remembered for his generosity and his elaborate desserts, including the famous "Hawaiian Surprise." Mr. Chenery led the planting of 6 blueberry bushes in the garden at Holy Name Church. Wendy Overlock (from Catholic Charities) presented a framed photo of Billy that includes a handwritten copy of the his famous recipe (to be hung in the kitchen), and Chris and Brandon led a moment of silence in Mr. Tate's memory before the blessing.

An EARLY Morning for Autism Speaks Volunteers

Fifteen dedicated members of the Service Club rolled out of bed very early (ROLL RED!) and headed over to Bicentennial Mall Saturday morning to help prepare for the annual walk for Autism awareness. Under the leadership of Coach Klausner and Project Manager John Yoder, they helped set up tents, banners, and booths for the event, so it could run smoothly and successfully. Thanks to all these early-rising helpers!
